MISSION STATEMENT: While being ever mindful of the town’s rich history and culture, it is our mission as representatives of the people to enhance the quality of life in the Town of Smithfield by working cooperatively with town staff, Isle of Wight County Board of Supervisors, and the community for the purpose of promoting public health, safety, order, prosperity and other services. We are committed to providing the highest quality services and to meeting the present and future needs of the community in a fiscally responsible manner.

The Smithfield Town Council meets at 7:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month in Conference Rooms A & B at the Smithfield Center (220 North Church Street). The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
