Peter M. Stephenson, AICP, ICMA-CMAs the Chief Administrative Officer of the Town of Smithfield and on behalf of all the employees, I would like to welcome you to the Town of Smithfield. My Office, which also houses the Town Clerk and Her staff, is located at 315 Main Street. Old Town Hall at 310 Institute Street, also in the heart of our Historical District, is where the Treasurer's Office, Information technology and Department of Planning, Engineering and Public Works are located with Public Work and Utilities crews working out of the Town Operations Facilities at 293 Cary Street.

The Smithfield Police Department is Located along the S. Church Street entrance corridor at 1613 S. Church Street and the Smithfield Center (Conference Center) is located at 220 N. Church Street. Separate Links for the Smithfield Center and our Convention and Visitor Bureau (Tourism Dept) which is jointly operated by the Town of Smithfield and the County may be found at the bottom of our home page

I would like to extend an open invitation to you to come visit. My door is always open. The Town of Smithfield operates under the council - manager form of government. The Town Council is composed of a Mayor and six Council members elected at large on a non-partisan basis. The Town Council adopts general policies and legislation which the Town Manager implements to ensure effective and responsive municipal services.
