Sec. 2-37.        Appointment of standing committees.

   The mayor, as soon as practicable after the qualification of the newly elected members of each council, shall appoint the following standing committees:

   (1) Finance.

   (2) Water and sewer.

   (3) Fire and rescue.

   (4) Police.

   (5) Public buildings and welfare.

   (6) Public works.
