Smithfield Police want to inform you of alerts, crime prevention information, and other related topics that affect your immediate neighborhood or business district...instantly.  Help Smithfield Police by keeping a lookout for wanted persons/vehicles, suspicious activity, or in other helpful ways.  Your anonymity is important to us so we request you send us an email with only your email address and your neighborhood, business district, or street name.  No personal information is necessary, but please specify if the email is for a business.  You will then be assigned to the appropriate list so that you can get information that affects you.  To sign up, simply send an email to Smithfield's Crime Watch at crimewatch@smithfieldva.gov and receive these important updates.

Information distributed pertains primarily to activities within the Town's limits.  For information outside the town, contact Isle of Wight Sheriff's Office or your local police department.

Who can receive these updates:
Any resident of the Town of Smithfield
Any person employed in the Town of Smithfield
Any person with interest in a certain area of Smithfield

Examples of updates you may receive:
Ex: Several vandalisms have occurred in your area.  We have suspect information and would like to have you be on the lookout.

Ex: A person is missing and is suspected to be in your area.

Ex: Several people have reported larcenies from their garages, after they left their garage doors open overnight.

Ex: An armed robber targeting certain business types is still at large in the Hampton Roads region.  We would like to provide details of suspect information so you can be on the lookout.

Ex: A citizen called to report a scam sweeping his neighborhood.  We want to spread the word to beware the scam.

Ex: A person of a certain description is passing bad checks in town.  We would like to pass this information to local businesses.

Ex: Smithfield Police will be hosting a family event.
