Mission Statement: A volunteer based Fire Department providing professional services to appropriately respond to any situation that may threaten life or property while continually advancing community-wide fire education, prevention, and preparedness. Vision: To be respected as a professional volunteer Fire and Emergency Services Organization that meets or exceeds the needs of our community.
A Message from the Fire Chief:
I want to welcome you to visit the new official web site of the Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department. Our site contains valuable information about our department and our community. I hope you will take the time to explore the different areas and links.
The Smithfield Volunteer Fire Department has the strength of 53 volunteer fire fighters, which serve a residential population of more than 10,000 citizens. Our two fire stations provide services to a geographical area of over ten square miles. That service area includes residential, commercial, and rural areas.
Our department provides the following services: Fire suppression, Vehicle rescue, Hazardous materials mitigation, Public education, and Fire safety training.
I am proud to lead this department as we strive to improve the services we provide our community. To accomplish our mission, we need your support and understanding of our operations. I hope that our new web site contributes to building an even better and stronger partnership between us. If you have ideas that you believe would further enhance our website feel free to contact us at anytime.
Best wishes,
Chris Edwards
Fire Chief
