Presentation from the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum and hosted by Jane Amelon, Daughters of the American Revolution Corresponding Docent
Chances are you have heard a statement like, “People were shorter then.”
Stories about historic events, people and things are told every day, and many of these stories and explanations either have little documentary basis or are outright fabrications. This lecture investigates how true facts of history are tweaked, exaggerated or enhanced. It also explores how such stories originate and how these myths can be long-lasting.
After this lecture, guests can consider present-day stories or phrases that might one day become a myth.
