Town Council Election Day Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 Polls open 6 a.m.—7 p.m. Polling place for all town residents that are registered voters is The Smithfield Center, 220 North Church Street

Event Details:

The Town of Smithfield has seven at large council members, who serve four year staggered terms.  This spring four seats are up for election.  The newly constituted council will take office on July 1, 2018 and at that time they must elect amongst themselves a Mayor and Vice Mayor to serve for the next two years when the next election cycle takes place.

 

This year there are six registered candidates running for the four available seats on council.  The candidates are listed in alphabetical order as follows:

T. Carter Williams

 

 Local elections represent a citizen’s best opportunity to effect change in their community.  Candidates have won or lost by less than 20 voters at times!  So every vote truly counts at the local level.    Come out and vote!!!!!!!!
