NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD

SPECIAL USE PERMIT

 

            Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, September 12th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Wesley Brown, applicant and Brown Brothers, owner for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 2.P. Section 17 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve a shipping container as an accessory structure.

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 101 Moore Avenue (Tax Map Parcel no. 22-01-006G), which is located on the north side of Moore Avenue and contains 0.65 +/- acres.  The parcel’s current zoning designations are Light Industrial (I-1) & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).

            Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard.  Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection at the Department of Community Development & Planning, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

Section 17 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve a shipping container as an accessory structure.

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 600 West Main Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 21A-04-000J), which is located on the north side of West Main Street and contains 18.72 +/- acres.  The parcel’s current zoning designations are Light Industrial (I-1), Highway Retail Commercial (HRC), & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).

            Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard.  Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection at the Department of Community Development & Planning, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 901 West Main Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 21-01-049), which is located on the south side of West Main Street and contains 1.23 +/- acres.  The parcel’s current zoning designations are Light Industrial (I-1) & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 1409 South Church Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 21A-01-512), which is located on the east side of South Church Street and contains 3.05 +/- acres.  The parcel’s current zoning designations are Highway Retail Commercial (HRC) & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).
