NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD

SPECIAL USE PERMIT

 

            Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Hallwood Properties I, LLC C/O Mark Hall, applicant & owner for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 3.H.C.28. of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve a waiver of yard requirements and allow zero side yard setbacks.

The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 107 Institute Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 21A-01-146), which is located on the west side of Institute Street and contains 0.14 +/- acres.  The parcel’s current zoning designation is Downtown (D).

            Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard.  Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and special use permit application are available for inspection at the Department of Community Development & Planning, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

AMENDMENT & REVISION OF ZONING ORDINANCE

            Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Development Logistics and Consulting C/O Nathan Diehl & Brian Mullins, applicants for a text amendment to the provisions of Article 3.E.I.10.A., Attached Residential (A-R) District of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, to repeal section 2 and revise section 1 to allow condominiums the ability to acquire special use permits if they do not meet A-R district provisions.

Copies of the current Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted Tuesday, September 1st, 1998, and all amendments thereto, along with copies of the text amendment application, are on file and may be examined in the Community Development & Planning Department, 310 Institute St, Smithfield, VA 23430.

            Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard.
