THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD PLANNING COMMISSION
SPECIAL SIGN EXCEPTION
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of MCSF LLC C/O Vincent Napolitano, applicant and owner, for a Special Sign Exception, under the provisions of Article 10, Section M of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to seek relief from Smithfield Zoning Ordinance Section 10.K.1.b.5, to erect two subdivision entry signs with the structural elements exceeding twenty-four square feet, for a total of approximately 80.7 +/- square feet. These signs will be located at the Mallory Point Subdivision, located at Tax Map Parcel no. 22-01-033, zoned Suburban Residential (SR) and Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).
Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard. Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and the application for this special sign exception are available for inspection in the Community Development & Planning Department, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.

Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia on Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Martin’s Custom Design d.b.a. Scotty Signs C/O Doug Collins, applicant, and Suso 4 Smithfield FF LP C/O Slate Properties Inc., owner, for a Special Sign Exception to modify a legal nonconforming detached sign at 20 feet in height and 102.5 square feet in area, under the provisions of Article 10, Section M of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, for relief from Smithfield Zoning Ordinance Sections 10.K.4.f.1.b.1 and 10.K.4.f.1.b.2, to structurally alter the legal nonconforming detached sign, exceeding 15’ height and exceeding 100 square feet of sign area. The sign will be located at the Smithfield Plaza, 1282 South Church Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 32-09-002) and is zoned Planned Shopping Center (PS-C) and Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).
