PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF SMITHFIELD
AMENDMENT & REVISION OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY PRESERVATION AREA (CBPA) DISTRICT MAP OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. to consider an ordinance for the revision and amendment of the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) District Map of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter.
Specifically, the applicant is seeking an amendment and revision to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) District Map, originally adopted by Town Council in September of 1990 and last amended on October 3rd, 2000. Since the last amendment, the Town has annexed two parcels of land: approximately 3.5 acres at the end of Gleneagles in the Cypress Creek subdivision and approximately 184 acres in the eastern portion of the Town between Battery Park Road and Jones Creek.
Copies of the current Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) District Map and the current Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted Tuesday, September 1st, 1998, and all amendments thereto, along with copies of the proposed revisions and amendments to the Chesapeake Bay Preservation Area (CBPA) District Map for Smithfield, Virginia, are on file and may be examined in the Community Development & Planning Department, 310 Institute St, Smithfield, VA 23430.
Any person affected by or interested in the aforesaid application may appear at the hearing and be heard.

SPECIAL USE PERMIT
Notice is hereby given that the Planning Commission of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia will hold a public hearing at the regular meeting of the Planning Commission in the council chambers in The Smithfield Center, 220 N. Church Street, meeting room A, Smithfield, Virginia, on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. to consider the application of Jeff Smith, applicant and Town of Smithfield, owner for a special use permit under the provisions of Article 2.P. Section 17 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield, Virginia, adopted September 1, 1998, and as amended thereafter, in order to approve multiple and stacked shipping containers as accessory structures.
The property which is the subject of this special use permit application is 293 & 295 Cary Street (Tax Map Parcel no. 21A-04-00H1), which is located on the south side of Cary Street and contains 12.18 +/- acres. The parcel’s current zoning designations are Light Industrial (I-1), Environmental Conservation (EC) & Entrance Corridor Overlay (ECO).

Copies of the Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Smithfield and application for this special use permit are available for inspection at the Department of Community Development & Planning, 310 Institute Street, Smithfield, Virginia 23430.
