Laura Ross is the Town of Smithfield’s Treasurer having joined in June of 2023.
Prior to joining the Town, she worked as a Resident Budget Advisor for the United States Treasury, Office of Technical Assistance (OTA). Focusing on improvements to cash management and forecasting, accounting department strengthening, and developing analysis and oversight on outsourced services.
Her government experience also includes serving as Deputy Treasurer for Arlington County, VA where she managed the Treasury Management and Accounting Departments.
Her private company experience includes serving as CFO for Tucker Psychiatric Clinic in Richmond, VA. She was responsible for accounting, reporting, and oversight of external audits. While at the clinic, she helped implement a new E.H.R. system (Electronic Health System). During her tenure at the clinic, she was responsible for developing and implementing a new cash forecasting model. She also served as the administrator and provided management of the practice.
Ms. Ross earned an MBA from Pfeiffer University and a BSBA degree from Western Carolina University.
