Overview
The Treasurer's office is responsible for billing and collecting annual tax revenues and local fees. The office also works closely with Public Works to manage water and sewer accounting, including billing and collections, for the Town. Other functions include accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, managing the Town's investments, disbursement of funds, audit preparation, and payroll processing. The department strives to serve customers in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner while responsibly managing public funds.
Legal Authority
The legal authority for the Treasurer's duties is grounded in the Constitution of Virginia, the Code of Virginia, Local Ordinances, case law from court decisions and opinions of the Attorney General.
